Does your child struggle with organization, planning, getting starting on their work or chores? Executive functioning challenges can quickly derail even the smartest children, identifying and understanding them help us overcome them. The BRIEF is an assessment for both parents and teachers to help understand if your child struggles with executive functioning, what follows is a comprehensive report with numerous strategies and ideas to help overcome them. The final piece of the Full Battery is the Behavior Assessment system for Children (BASC) This assessment looks at things like ADHD, Depression, Anxiety and Social Skills in both the home and school setting. Just like the BRIEF, once challenges are identified and realized a solid plan can be made moving forward.

The Full Battery paints the biggest and most comprehensive picture of your child, from a behavioral, intellectual and executive functioning lens.

IQ Testing

Intelligence testing (IQ) and write up with suggestions – $1800

Intelligence testing can paint a picture of your child as a learner that can be helpful for parents and teachers alike. IQ testing allows you to understand where you child may have some challenges and how to overcome them. IQ testing also allows us to see where your child’s strengths are and how we can use those strengths to move forward and achieve full potential.

Identifying if your child is gifted.

If you’re in need of IQ scores to help get your child into a private school or other type of program, Mathletes and Bookworms can help. We use the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children (KABC) or the Wechsler Intelligence Scales (WPPSI-IV, WISC-V, or WAIS-IV – depending on the student’s age).

What is involved in an IQ test?

An IQ test is made up of numerous subtests and activities to help understand your child from different perspectives. Areas measured include: knowledge, abstract reasoning, visual-spatial abilities, short-term memory, multitasking, and processing speed. IQ tests can take anywhere from 1-3 hours depending on the test taking process. Making sure your child is well rested before the test and has a good breakfast will ensure optimal results.

After the assessment has been complete, a full write up will be written with suggestions, ideas and full interpretation of scores. These reports are comprehensive and extremely applicable as our on staff Psychologist is school based and works with IEP and 504 teams regularly. Our Psychologist will walk you through the reports, consult with your child’s school and make sure you’re getting what your child deserves and needs. Additionally, our educators at Mathletes and Bookworms can use the assessment results to guide tutoring sessions, help navigate different school choices and guide parents through the school application process.
